Night Shift Security Team Leader - Albany
We are seeking a reliable, experienced Night Shift Security Team Leader to join our retail site in Albany, Auckland. This role leads and supports a small team of security officers on the night roster, ensuring safe, professional, and responsive service delivery across the site. This full time role will be working 12 hour night shifts between the hours 7pm - 7am on a rotating roster for 7 day coverage. The successful candidates must have full availability to work any day of the week on this roster pattern, especially Friday & Saturday nights.
About the Role
Provide frontline supervision and direction to night security officers, ensuring rostered duties are completed to the required standard and in line with site procedures.
Coordinate team duties including patrols, access control, lock/unlock procedures, incident response, and site checks during the night shift.
Act as the primary point of contact for client representatives, emergency services, and stakeholders during the night shift, maintaining professional and clear communication.
Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, incidents, disturbances and emergencies; assess situations, take decisive action and escalate when required.
Conduct or support investigations into incidents, complete accurate incident reports, and ensure follow-up actions are implemented and communicated.
Ensure the team complies with health & safety requirements, site-specific procedures, and Red Badge Group policies throughout the shift.
Maintain high standards of uniform, presentation and professional conduct; represent the company positively to clients and the public.
Key Responsibilities
Lead nightly operations, allocate tasks, monitor performance and ensure timely completion of site duties.
Perform regular patrols, perimeter checks and internal inspections; ensure any hazards or maintenance issues are reported promptly.
Prepare clear, accurate handover notes and incident documentation for the day team and management.
Support onboarding and induction of new team members on night duties, including coaching on site procedures and expectations.
Uphold customer service standards when engaging with tenants, staff and visitors during the night shift.

Requirements
Strong observation, reporting, and risk assessment skills
Eligible to work in New Zealand and at least 18 years of age
Hold, or be able to obtain, a current NZ COA (Certificate of Approval) security license.
Clean criminal record.
Current, clean full NZ driver’s licence
Demonstrated reliability and a strong sense of responsibility
Ability to work independently, use initiative, and adapt to changing situations
Excellent communication skills, professionalism, and calmness under pressure
